Vintage Draw Shave by Sargent New Haven! I am not sure the
exact age of this, the company began making basic tools like this in 1870. This
would have been in every carpenter and woodworkers’ bag at the time, used for
stripping bark and smoothing wood. This is a wonderful addition to any tool
collection. The wooden handles are in nice shape, the blade is still sharp and
sturdy. The connection from the handles to the blade is just a bit wobbly. Stamped New Haven on the blade.
Blade is a bit over 15" long.
Here at FatMan’s Garage
we work with a lot of very old car parts and just some strange and unusual
things all together. We acquire them in all different ways and do not always
have the full story on everything. We do our best to research accurately to
describe & label everything that comes through our door. If you find we
have made a mistake, or you just generally have better information than we do
please feel free to contact us. We like growing our knowledge base and keeping
our customers happy!
